| Catharine Deane is a psychotherapist who is part of a new revolutionary treatment which allows its mind to enter literally in the spirit of its patients. Its experience in this method takes a rebound when a judicial policeman federal comes to ask for a hopeless service. | Justin (Lou Taylor Pucci) is a boy of teenager, with an oral fixed idea with his thumb. Her mother (Tilda Swinton) seems to be a normal governess, but she has her own obsessions also, as a crush on a star of the TV (Benjamin Bratt). The only person who is aware of the problem of Justin is her father (Vincent D' Onofrio), the manager in a shop, but none of its advice seems to work for Justin. The rascal is committed to a workshop of debate, but the thing does not go well, because he has his mind in a pretty schoolmate and, of course, in his thumb, by affecting all rest of his classes. Therefore Justin is a solitarier rascal in the school, which prefers closing up in the bathroom and sucking its thumb. The dentist of Justin (the Reveilles de Keanu), a person of the mystical hippy, will try to help to overcome his problem of thumb, by hypnosis. But the psychologist of the school will diagnose Justin with the Riot of Deficit of Attention and prescribe him some medicaments. Suddenly, the problem of Justin with its thumb will disappear, by becoming a hyperactive genius, by earning several competitions of debate and the admiration of his teacher (Vince Vaughn). Nevertheless, more serious problems will come for Justin with his mother, his father and with a drug dependency.

Mais le psychologue de l'école diagnostiquera Justin avec le Désordre de Déficit d'Attention et le prescrira quelques médicaments. Subitement, le problème de Justin avec son pouce disparaîtra, en devenant un génie hyperactif, en gagnant plusieurs concours de discussion et l'admiration de son enseignant (Vince Vaughn).
