| In London, A.K. is a Ukrainian Gypsy, seeking fame as a rocker, doing odd jobs: he's a dom, drives a hack, and runs errands for his neighbor, a poet full of self pity since going blind. A.K's flatmates are Holly, a ballerina who becomes a reluctant stripper in need of coaching, and Juliette, a pill-popping assistant at a pharmacy run by an Indian tired of his marriage. Juliette, estranged from her family, dreams of helping the poor children of Africa; A.K. has a crush on Holly; Juliette's boss lusts after her. Her hapless sister calls from time to time. | Roland Rat, Margaret Thatcher; the cubes of Rubik, the royal wedding; aerobics, skinheads. It is in 1983, and the schools resolve for the summer. Shaun is 12 years old and a sort of a loner, with his mummy in a fierce coastal town growing up, his daddy killed the fights during the war of the Falkland Islands. On his way home of the school where he has been tormented the whole day to carry flickering he gets in a group of skinheads who turn out against expectations, to be friendly and to take him under her wing. Shaun parties, girls and vicious dressing soon discovers, and finds some models in Waldig, Milk and the rest of the gang. But if an older, open racist skinhead returns home from the prison, the light comradeship of the group is broken, and Shaun is drawn in the a lot of uneasier territory. Being based mainly on his own experience as a youngster this is the ripest and absolutely understood film of Shane Meadow. Treating the complexities of the masculinity, power and race with the delicacy and an ease of the touch, it is hard to fancy itself a film which would better win the mood of the time, or which could have a little greater understanding of the pace to be a part of a gang.

Shaun ist 12 Jahre alt und so etwas wie ein Einzelgänger, mit seiner Mama in einer grimmigen Küstenstadt aufwachsend, sein Vati tötete das Kämpfen im Krieg von Falklandinseln. Auf seinem Heimweg von der Schule, wo er den ganzen Tag gequält worden ist, um Aufflackern zu tragen, gerät er in eine Gruppe von Skinheads, die sich gegen Erwartungen erweisen, freundlich zu sein und ihn unter ihrem Flügel zu nehmen. Bald entdeckt Shaun Parteien, Mädchen und das bissige Ankleiden, und findet einige Vorbilder in Waldig, Milchig und der Rest der Bande. Aber wenn ein älterer, offen rassistischer Skinhead nach Hause vom Gefängnis zurückkehrt, wird die leichte Kameradschaft der Gruppe gebrochen, und Shaun wird ins viel unbehaglichere Territorium angezogen. Beruhend größtenteils auf seine eigene Erfahrung als ein Jugendlicher ist das der reifste und völlig begriffene Film von Shane Meadow. Die Kompliziertheiten der Männlichkeit, Gewalt und Rasse mit der Empfindlichkeit und einer Leichtigkeit der Berührung behandelnd, ist es hart, sich einen Film vorzustellen, der die Stimmung der Zeit besser gewinnen würde, oder das etwas größer ein Verstehen der Allüre haben konnte, ein Teil einer Bande zu sein. | The Turk and his shut friend / accomplice private are pulled in the world of the fixation of play by the Top from well-known Brick. The things are complicated when the boxer whom they had lined up gives a kick in the shit out of him for Pitt, a 'pikey' (slang of an Irish Gypsy) - the one who enters in the equation after Turk, a boxing promoter not authorized wants to buy a caravan of the Irish Gypsies. They then try to convince Pitt not only of fighting for them, but to lose for them also. While completely that is continuing, an enormous diamond theft happens, and a handful of varied characters Boris introduces the history, including 'the Cousin Avi', 'to Blade', 'Franky Quatro Dedos' and 'Tooth of Bullet Tony'. The things go of badly worse I eat everything he becomes on the money, the arms, and the mad dog!.
