| Following the mysterious death of a fellow member of a local Mystery Writers' Workshop, a librarian and struggling mystery novelist named Julia London steals the deceased author's unpublished manuscript and purports it to be her own. Once the novel, entitled "Grave Misconduct", becomes a publishing phenomenon, a series of grisly murders occur that mirror events in the book and eventually implicate Julia herself. | The aftermath of a high school shooting leaves Deanna Cartwright seriously wounded and nine others dead, including the perpetrator. Det. Martin Van Zandt is assigned the unenviable task of investigating the crime and finding someone to hold responsible. His attention settles on Alicia Browning, a darkly troubled outsider who, as the only person present throughout the entire incident, is both the key witness and a possible suspect. | Frank Galvin is a down-on-his luck lawyer, reduced to drinking and ambulance chasing. Former associate Mickey Morrissey reminds him of his obligations in a medical malpractice suit of his own to Galvin on a silver platter: all parties are willing to settle out of court. BLUNDERING their way through the preliminaries, he suddenly realizes that perhaps after all is the case should go to court to punish the guilty, to get a decent solution for their customers, and to restore its position as a lawyer.

Seem that it is in the type that stayed up God as a baby, therefore now the Almighty and his fair punishment have him to the duke on soul.

| Connor Macleod is born in 1518 in the hilly Countries of Scotland.
