| Stu Miley is a cartoonist who created a comic strip called Monkeybone which features the rascal monkey of the same name. Stu is in love with a sleep institute worker named Dr. Julie McElroy. When it came to the night where he was going to propose to her, a freak accident happens and Stu falls into a coma. His spirit ends up in Downtown: a purgatory limbo-like existence between life and death. Downtown is a carnival landscape populated by other people, mythical creatures, and other figments and this is where nightmares are entertainment. This is where Monkeybone comes to life and stirs up trouble for Stu. Also, Stu befriends a cat-girl named Kitty. When Stu learns that his sister Kimmy is about to pull the plug on him, he asks Hypnos: The God of Sleep what to do. Hypnos tells Stu that to get back to the living, he has to steal an Exit Pass from Death who lives in the Land of Death. However, Monkeybone and Hypnos have their own agenda with Stu's body when it comes to making nightmares. Search keywords

| Gorge of the narrow valley, Arizona, the today. Wayne, itself at night in the desert for the check of his coming firefighter practicing, testifies the influence of a meteor stone. The next day, biology teacher Dr.. Ira Kane and geology block of the teacher Harry of the gorge-communal university of the narrow valley get to come to the meteor stone which becomes in the ground at the underside of a cave durchstochen. While they take a sample, they discover a slimy blue liquid which comes from the meteor stone. A little late Ira Kane finds out that zillions of single zelligen life forms live in the liquid, even develop in an unbelievable rate, while he watches. What seems first that a sure map develops to Sweden for the Nobel prize soon in a nightmare: While they develop and adapt themselves in this incredibly quick rate, the foreigners begin the spreading, and the military comes. Now all this runs out to what settled Darwin so rightfully: Survival of the most suitable one. And no good idea by view.
Felsschlucht des Engen Tales, Arizona, der heutige Tag. Wayne, sich nachts in der Wüste für die Prüfung seines kommenden Feuerwehrmannes übend, bezeugt den Einfluss eines Meteorsteins. Am nächsten Tag, Biologie-Lehrer Dr. Ira Kane und Geologie-Block des Lehrers Harry von der Felsschlucht-Gemeinschaftsuniversität des Engen Tales schaffen, zum Meteorstein zu kommen, der im Boden an der Unterseite von einer Höhle durchstochen wird. Indem sie eine Probe nehmen, entdecken sie eine schleimige blaue Flüssigkeit, die aus dem Meteorstein kommt. Ein wenig später findet Ira Kane heraus, dass Myriaden von einzeln-zelligen Leben-Formen in der Flüssigkeit wohnen, sich an einer unglaublichen Rate sogar entwickeln, während er zusieht. Welch zuerst scheint, dass sich eine sichere Karte nach Schweden für den Nobelpreis bald in einen Albtraum entwickelt: Indem sie sich entwickeln und sich an dieser unglaublich schnellen Rate anpassen, beginnen die Ausländer das Verbreiten, und das Militär geht ein.
