| Set in the 1950s, School Ties sheds light on the "true" nature of the old boys club. David Green (Fraser), a supreme athlete, is granted admission to an exclusive boarding school reserved for the country's blue bloods. Green hopes to use the school to get into Harvard, while the school uses him to win football championships. Everything is going as planned until a spoiled classmate Charlie Dillon (Damon), finds out that Green is Jewish. Given the time and circumstances, this does not sit well with his classmates. The movie comes to a climax when the classmates are forced to choose between Green and Dillon in a cheating scandal. The movie really highlights the religious inequality that took place at that time in America. | Rusty James is an up-and-coming street hoodlum, lamenting the salad days of the gangs when his older brother, The Motorcycle Boy, ran things as President of the Packers. Over the next few days, James' dead end life of posturing seems to fall apart; he loses his girlfriend, his friends, his own sense of confidence. | Well Cronin has all that: the admiration of many his friends, a fantastic girlfriend and he is on the quick track in an athletic grant. Not that it was easy - every day Well juggles with the countless hours in the swimming pool (training for a critical bathing meet), with a job in the local hospital and the quality time of conclusion with its darling of high school, Amy. The future firm, promising rock of Well and the novel with Amy are upside down turned with the arrival of Bell of Madison.
