| Lenny and Amanda have an adopted son Max who turns out to be bright. Lenny becomes haunted by the conclusion of the real parents of Max because he thinks that they must be bright also. When he notes that Linda Ash is Max' the real mother, Lenny is disappointed. Linda is the star of pornography and a prostitute. To top it all she is completely perhaps the person most mute Lenny has never met. A Greek chorus linking up history with the history of Oedipus is interlaced.

| Two brothers of London (MCGREGOR and Farrell) are hard above for the money and both have girls to watch, also (Atwell and Williams). When the rich Uncle Howard (Wilkinson) comes to the city and agrees to draw them of embarrassment, he admits that his finances make the object of an inquiry and he asks them to make him a favour and to "take care" of an old relation of business to keep his problem under packing - he says that they are the family and as he always takes care of them, the slightest they could make it is once help him, as they are the only ones he can trust. The film follows their struggle with the immorality of this request and how every brother wants to take care of it.
Deux frères de Londres (McGregor et Farrell) sont durs en haut pour l'argent et tous les deux ont des filles pour guetter, aussi (Atwell et Williams). Quand l'Oncle riche Howard (Wilkinson) vient à la ville et accepte de les tirer d'embarras, il reconnaît que ses finances font l'objet d'une enquête et il leur demande de le faire une faveur et "s'occuper" d'une vieille relation d'affaires pour garder son problème sous les emballages - il dit qu'ils sont la famille et comme il s'occupe toujours d'eux, le moindre ils pourraient faire est l'aident cela une fois, comme ils sont les seuls il peut se fier.
