Laura must make the decision to run away from it all or live miserably with her happy husband. Clarissa Vaughan (Meryl Streep) is a career publisher living in present 2001 New York. Her nickname, given by her poet-friend, Richard, who is dying of AIDS, is Mrs. Dalloway. Clarissa is also throwing a party but for Richard who is receiving an award for his poetry. | The magnolia is the study of nine lives in day in the Valley of San Fernando, California. These nine lives all connect and turn around the quiz show "what do the Rascals Know?" (WDKK), where a team of three rascals' game against the adults and always show takes place, there is a new team of adults and the rascals stay; if they earned the previous game. Count Partridge (late Jason Robards) produced "WDKK" when it was connected first at the end of the sixties. He dies from the brain and from the cancer of lung and is kept by Phil Parma (Philip Seymour Hoffman), a male nurse. Linda, the woman of trophy of Count (Julianne Moore) begins falling in love with the Count for real, in spite of her cheating. The count, dying fast on his bed, asks Phil to find his Separated, frank son T. J. Mackey (Tom Cruise), who grew by detesting the Count and runs a seminar now for the simple men, who teaches them how to entice a woman and to leave her. The crowd of "WDKK", Jimmy Gator (Philip Baker Hall), also dies, but not as fast as the Count. He has a very rocky report with his daughter Claudia (Waters of Melora), who sniffs the crack 24/7 and accuses his father of importuning him sexually. Policeman Jim (John C. Reilly) goes home of Claudia having been called of a trouble. He falls in love her right away. Stanley Specter (Jeremy Blackman) is a rival on "WDKK", which is a genius and used by his father to make some money. If Stanley and his team continue winning, they will establish a record on show and accept tons of money. The record which Stanley tries to beat is the record 1968 established by Donnie Smith (Guillaume H. Macy), who had exactly e the same childhood when he was on show and grew now to be a pitiable loser. He was recently returned from his job and tries to find his way in happiness.

| The Fortune de Biscuit unfolds on an Easter week-end full of incidents in the small spring city of Holly, Mississippi. The local inhabitants are gentle, nice people - except for Camille Dixon (Glenn Close) - a ruthlessly ambitious theatre manager with a terrifically timid younger sister, Cora (Julianne Moore), from whom the separated girl Emma (Liv Tyler) has just come back to the city. On the heels of his last game, Camille is shocked to discover that his aunt Jewel Mae " the Cookie " Orcutt (Patricia Neal) committed suicide. Terrified in thought how it will tarnish surname, she eats the note of suicide to make it resemble in a break-in. This organisation leads the police to a main suspect, Willis Richland (Charles S. Dutton), who also succeeds in being the best friend of Cookie. Although the rest of the city is persuaded Willis did not commit crime, an external investigateur (Courtney B. Vance) am not yes sure. As the Sunday of Easter and the first night of game comes, the truth leaves, by revealing more secrets that somebody could have imagined perhaps. Manager Altman says his history in a quiet step, by recreating wonderfully the eccentricities of small local life in this soft history - natured.
