| London: The Sixties. Two down-on-their-luck actors (Withnail and Marwood) find solace in drink and other substances. Seeking respite from their uneventful lives they escape up north to Penrith to Withnail's uncle's stone cottage. | Miss Jane Marple remains in an elegant hotel of his praises of infancy of his nephew Raymond. Also there is international adventurer Bess Sedgwick and Missis Selena Hazy (Joan Greenwood in her next to the last interpretation). A doorman who is employed at the hotel turns out to be of Bess's past, and when he is killed, she is the principal suspect. But what has to do his murder with the disappearance of a vicar major who remains in the hotel, and a series of thefts during a few last months? Miss Marple must quarrel before the killer strikes again!!!.
